FERSI Training Seminar on Evaluation

19-21 May 2010

"The mission of FERSI is to contribute to improve road safety through ensuring that the problems of road safety in European countries are researched by the best available expertise and are implemented in the most effective and appropriate way" (source: www.fersi.org).

In order to achieve this aim, research is needed at every single step of the prevention cycle, i.e. there is no implementation of measurements "in the most effective and appropriate way" without profound research from the beginning to the end of a whole prevention cycle.

While it is common sense that the definition of objectives – and furthermore the definition of prevention programmes – must be based on sound accident and risk analyses, there is much less awareness that the evaluation of implemented measures is also an important topic for research.

In order to produce sound evaluation studies that help to improve prevention work, researchers need solid knowledge of evaluation – in theory and practice.

Better quality in scientific evaluation meets a growing demand of decision makers as well: During the last decades a more rational approach to political decision making has produced an increasing demand of scientific evaluation.

The FERSI seminar on evaluation is a good opportunity to learn more about evaluation – from the basics (day one), to evaluation-specific study designs (day two) and some best-practice examples of evaluations (day three). Join us!

The aim of the seminar is to bring together researchers with similar interests, to learn from each other and to develop a knowledge pool for evaluation research.

The attendance fee is CHF 450 for the three days (CHF 300 for FERSI members).
